ABOUT US
FRIENDS WITHOUT BORDERS
Our History
Over 15 years ago a small group of ex residents of Mount Edgecombe decided to host the elders from Mount Edgecombe and surrounding areas.

This initiative was to honour our elders who toiled in the sugar cane fields and the sugar mill. Despite the many challenges, our forebears excelled in the field of sports such as soccer, arts and culture, music and importantly had the foresight to build educational institutions such as Natest Primary School.

Our gratitude to our forebears is so immense that we cannot thank them enough.

The hosting of our elders became very popular with the young and old and it soon became an annual event.
Thus began the journey of Friends Without Borders Mount Edgecombe.

We are registered as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) which constitutionally is a-religious and a-political. The key focus and objectives of Friends Without Borders is to engage in various community upliftment activities especially the elders and children and poverty alleviation.

Our target areas are predominately Mount Edgecombe, Phoenix and Mount Moriah.
Our Mission
Adopt schools in need for targeted interventions
Organise events for the elderly on an ad-hoc basis
Establish and secure a fully functional centre for the elderly
Our Vision
Is to have a fully-fledged and capacitated NPO focusing on education and the elderly with its own Centre for the elderly and become nationally and internationally recognised and funded.
Our Values
Our core values are to serve the communities: with honesty, integrity and humility and by adhering to sound corporate governance principles that includes total financial transparency.
Our Purpose
To serve the targeted community with humility and always striving to make a positive difference in their lives.
Membership, Executives & Council of Elders
Our core membership is fairly small but a well knit group of individuals who are totally focussed on the ideals of the organisation. They are dedicated and serve the organisation with distinction. Council of Elders
One of the unique feature of our organisation is blending youth energy with the extensive knowledge and skills of our elders. With this approach we are ensuring there is transfer of skills and expertise from the old to the young. Thus the Council of Elders work very closely with the Executive Committee in the running of the organisation.
Sub-Committees
Various sub-committees undertake projects as directed by the Executive Committee/Membership.
